Do You Have Experience?
I have been one of a few Southwest Michigan DJs that have been fortunate to have had a solid schedule over the past years. I achieved this with total dedication to my clients, as well as through referrals they provide.
What sets you apart from your competition?
Customer service. We have all been a victim of poor customer service. When planning a wedding you may need a professional to call upon to answer questions/concerns within all aspects of your ceremony and reception. I welcome such responsibilities. I reply to all correspondences swiftly, and that is the hallmark of my business. I always offer assistance to all couples, even though I may be booked on their special day. This is especially helpful to all out of town couples who may need assistance finding an officiate, and other wedding professionals. I do offer Past/present military personnel discounts.
Are you going to be my DJ at my wedding?
Probably the most important question listed here....YES!!! Southwest Michigan is an extremely popular Midwest destination wedding location. Although there are numerous great disc jockeys in this area, some have recruited "no experience necessary" help to cover their overflow of bookings. Please always ask who will be your DJ and have this put into the contract! I do occasionally field frantic calls from couples who's DJ has backed out. I sincerely try my best to find them a reputable DJ, as I am generally booked, however, most of the time my trusted colleagues are booked as well. I personally would rather book fewer weddings and do them well than to take risks on anyone's special day.
What Is your Personality?
I will be professional throughout your event, with occasional humor when appropriate. You can be assured that I am not a radio “shock-jock”, “game show” host, or one who will drink on the job. It is my responsibility to protect my clients and their guests from any awkward moments and keep the integrity of their special event intact.
How Much Do You Charge?
All events are not the same and require different needs. My rates are below the national average. Please fill out the “Contact” page on my website to receive a quote for your special event.
Do You Take Guest Requests?
Unless informed otherwise by you, requests are fulfilled. An exception would be any music that may take away from the integrity of the event. At a wedding reception I will NEVER accept a tip from your guests (for playing requests), and if they insist, I will direct them to your gift card box. When interacting with your friends and family, I will represent you in all regards.
What Time Do You Set Up?
If the venue permits, I prefer to set up a few hours prior to your event. This way guests are not burdened with moving of equipment, and sound checks. Everything will be in place and working properly prior to your guests' arrival. This would also apply to your ceremony location.
Do You Have Quality DJ Equipment?
Yes. I use high quality purchased (legal) digital music files with professional DJ software. I incorporate the following name-brand sound equipment..… EV, JBL, Shure, Line 6, etc. To protect your event, I do have a backup sound system always on site. If you are considering any DJ, having a quality backup system on site is a very important question to ask! One bad component, cord, etc and your entire event could be in jeopardy. I offer you this insurance and peace of mind...... many do not.
Is Your Music Licensed?
Yes. Licensed music means that a DJ purchased the material played. Music that is downloaded illegally and/or poor quality is simply to build a “library count” (sometimes used as a selling tool overshadowing the lack of experience). It is very possible that one’s rates may be lower because they may put profit over quality. Do not be hesitate to ask any DJ where they acquire their music , and what they play it through for your special event.
Can I Select Music For My Event?
Absolutely! This is your special event and I welcome your input. Any music that is not in my vast collection I will purchase for your event at no extra charge. You will always receive sound clips of your special songs (first dance, father/daughter, etc) in advance of your wedding day to make sure they are of the correct artist and version.
Do You Have References?
References are available upon request. Visit my Facebook Business Page and Weddingwire.com for reviews and additional information.
Do you have liability Insurance?
Yes, but many DJs are not insured. The only motive of not having insurance for a business is to save a few hundred dollars a year. Most all of my clients have asked me about insurance, as this gives them peace of mind. Copies of my policy are always available upon request.
The following questions are something you should consider asking all wedding professionals, as there is only but one chance to get it right on your wedding day.
